Construction Moves Towards Opening at The Royal Albert Dock Hotel

Following a busy first quarter, construction on The Royal Albert Dock Hotel – London ExCeL is fully underway with a revised construction schedule now in place.


Since our last update, a new main contractor has been secured for the project and the milestones of practical completion and opening dates have been revised to reflect this transition. Work on the hotel has continued to take place with an adjusted construction strategy, with the completion date now due to be 1st June.

The ‘soft opening’ of the hotel is currently scheduled to take place on the 10th or 11th June, with the full public opening due to follow on June 16th. To accommodate for this new schedule, all of the subcontractors due to complete work on site ahead of the hotel’s opening will be working to the new efficient schedule, minimising the disruptions to the site before the public opening.

With various high profile events taking place at the London ExCeL Convention and Exhibition Centre throughout the summer, we have been advised that the number of advanced bookings for the hotel is looking very positive, with a full report of these figures to be provided in the next few weeks.


The online bookings for the Royal Albert Dock Hotel – London ExCeL currently offer the date of July 6th as the earliest booking date, with a contingency in place to allow earlier bookings based on the revised construction schedule.
