Internal Demolition at Holmes Street Burnley Continues in Preparation for Modular Units
By:Siobhan McNichols
Burnley’s newest student accommodation, Holmes Street, has reached the next stage of construction, with the demolition of the building’s interior now underway on site.
Whilst work continues off-site on the production of the pre-fabricated modules that will form the building’s interior; the existing internal structure of the development is being cleared in preparation for the modules arriving on-site.

The construction team for the project are currently clearing the interior of the building through a careful demolition process, ensuring that the external structure remains intact. The wooden flooring and ceilings are being carefully removed as the building is stripped back to its basic, core structure. The external facade of the Holmes Street building will remain in place once the project has been completed.
Once the interior of the building has been cleared, the team will prepare the site for the arrival of the modules. The modules will be craned into place, beginning with the South wall of the building and moving towards the North side of the site. Once the modules are maneuvered in place, the utilities will be connected.
