Construction Moves Forward at The Royal Albert Docks Hotel
By:Christopher Webber
As work continues at the Royal Albert Docks Hotel, construction on the site has greatly advanced in preparation for the planned launch on March 1st.
The internal structure of the site is beginning to take shape according to the developers, with all three of the building’s staircases now installed and the main staircase’s stainless steel balustrade now fully installed. In the public areas of the building, work on the ceiling frames is also continuing apace. The design development process for the hotel has now been completed, with just a few elements such as the hotel signage waiting to be finalised and approved. The full fabrication drawings for the reception, bar and buffet areas are being produced and the first stages of fixings work on these areas is due to commence from next month. After extensive research, the plans for all of the fixtures, fittings and equipment in the building are being finalised, with everything from the correct number of teaspoons to the best choice of draft beer being considered.
London ExCeL Docklands Hotel
Construction on the exterior of the hotel is moving forward with window installation having been completed up to the first floor and façade brickwork now reaching the second floor. Work on the rain-screen cladding that adorn the building is also due to start shortly. Inside the building, the distribution of mechanical and electrical systems through the service risers and corridor ceilings has made great progress. Additionally, work has commenced on the installation of the air conditioning cassettes within each of the individual rooms.
With the launch of the site less than 5 months away, bookings are already being taken for the hotel, with a number of large parties already in place for later in 2015. With the London ExCeL just around the corner from the Royal Albert Docks Hotel site, the hotel is already attracting a great deal of attention from delegates for upcoming conferences.
Following the announcement of plans for a £3.5 billion renovation of the Silvertown Quays area of the London Docklands, the room rates and occupancy of the Royal Albert Docks Hotel is expected to substantially exceed initial expectations. As construction of a number of high profile projects in the area progresses, including the new Crossrail line and the expansion of Canary Wharf, the area will continue to thrive.
